Giovanna Cocktail
Beverage Manager Mike Bohn shares how to make a spicy, ginger riff on a Manhattan called the Giovanna.
Ingredients
- 1½ parts Angel’s Envy® Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
- ½ part Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur
- ½ part Averna Amaro
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Garnish: lemon peel and cherry
Preparation
Add Angel’s Envy® Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Averna Amaro, Angostura Bitters and orange bitters into a glass. Add ice and stir for 25–30 seconds. Strain and pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with lemon and cherry.
Many whiskeys you taste have some water added prior to bottling, which lowers the alcohol proof and makes it easier on the palate. But “cask strength” means it's barrel proof, so what you taste comes directly from the barrel.
